Orthofix Gives Back − Employee Volunteers Support Our Communities

Orthofix continues to make a difference in our communities from coast to coast! Recently, our teams in California donated blood and sponsored local food and school supply drives, while our teams in Lewisville, TX, came together to deliver meals, build bikes, and educate youths. And our Toronto team raised money for a good cause with a few well-delivered spikes and volleys!

Our team in Irvine, CA, hosted a school supplies drive for elementary school aged children. When employees dropped off 12 bins of colors, notebooks, backpacks and other donations to Rancho Cañada Elementary School, the educators were extremely grateful for the supplies. The principal shared that this year the school district implemented a policy requiring that schools provide all school supplies to the students due to the high number of families who could not afford them. At the same time, the school district was unable to increase budgets for school supplies, which often results in teachers using their personal funds to support student learning. We are truly humbled to be able to help our neighbors in our community!

In Lewisville, our intern class of 2023 and their mentors spent a day delivering meals for Meals on Wheels of Collin County. This organization provides 1,000 nutritionally balanced meals each day to homebound senior adults and individuals with disabilities. In addition, our employee volunteers experienced firsthand being the “eyes and ears” of the program as they hand-delivered the meals to grateful recipients. Our volunteers were reminded that they are often the only people the seniors and disabled interact with on a daily basis.

Recently, the Bone Growth Therapy sales management team, employees, and support staff had the opportunity to organize a volunteer activity to benefit youth in North Texas during their mid-year meeting at headquarters. The event, which featured a blend of bike-building and task-tackling, was focused on aiding the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The bikes built by Orthofix staff were given to adolescents who faced financial barriers that made transportation difficult. Additionally, Orthofix provided a helmet and bike lock with each donated bicycle. Next up in Lewisville, our spine team will be building bikes for Toys for Tots in October during their quarterly business review meeting.

Meanwhile, the Orthofix Product Development team inspired children with their love for learning as they explored the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas! Our team worked alongside educators in many of the museum’s fascinating exhibit halls, as well as in the Challenge Lab, where visitors were encouraged to try different engineering, coding and STEM-based projects, and the Bio Lab, where they could learn difficult biology concepts in a fun and engaging way.

In Toronto, our employees hit the sand to participate in the Heatwave Volleyball Challenge. The competition was created to raise funds for children with cancer and benefit SickKids, The Hospital for Sick Children. Along with bumps, blocks and spikes, our team dug in and delivered almost $1,000 in funds!

These are just a few of the diverse volunteer activities now totaling more than 800 volunteer hours! Corporate charity is a crucial component of our company’s culture, and collective volunteer hours are counted toward our company goal. For all of our Orthofix volunteers who have already participated in community events, we thank you!

Together, we have the power to create positive change and continue to leave a lasting impact on our communities.
